Note: this is a formal meeting focusing on Financial Report and election of 5 members of the Managing Committee, and only to schedule next meeting to discuss proposed activities in more detail. (The new Committee shall meet after the AGM, at 4.30pm).

5 years, 50000 kilometers biked, 32 countries, 5 continents visited – and about halfway around the globe! Adela and Kris will share their stories of joy, hardship, kindness and friendship throughout the Middle East, Africa and both Americas.  Now they are cycling across Australia and next they will head to Asia. They plan to return home in 2020. Come to see their photos, listen to their stories, cheer and support the first Polish couple on the quest to cycle the world! Donations for the next stage of their trip are very welcome.

..zaraz po lunchu ok. godziny 3pm zapraszamy wszystkich na profesjonalna pogadanke na temat:

„Wszystko o fermentacji”

Prezenterzy, Dr M Barski i Ms M Ambrosioni, opowiedza na czym polega fenomen fermentacji i co w trakcie tego staje sie z róznymi plynami.
Dowiemy sie czym w istocie roznia sie takie trunki jak wina, piwa, miody i rózne destylaty  oraz co stanowi istote win czerwonych, bialych, musujacych i win ciezkich.
Na koniec poznamy zasady fermentacji w domu tak aby uzyskac wlasne piwa, wina lub miody – a wreszcie dostaniemy praktyczne odpowiedzi na nawet trudne pytania!

Dom Polski Centre invites anyone from SA* aged 18-44

to take part in a competition with many prizes

* limited to permanent residents of South Australia, excluding officers of Dom Polski Centre
You are invited to submit, either:

  • an essay/article/poster/script

  • web page (html page)

  • pre-recorded presentation or video (in electronic form)

by email, mail or in person to: dompolskicentre@gmail.com or 232 Angas St. Adelaide SA5000

stating your name, age, address or email

Conditions:

- submissions must be own work (any 3rd party material should be acknowledged)

- one person may make one submission each time/month (language: English or Polish)

- awarded authors will receive gifts/vouchers and

- selected works will be presented on Dom Polski web pages and/or live on stage and will attract separate honorarium

- selection committee will be appointed by Dom Polski Board.

Selection of tasks – pick the one that suits you best:

  1. Prepare a kit to engage and entertain a group of children for two hours.
    Include at least two of these parts:
    - own/unique game,
    - a song (own words or music or both),
    - a story for storytelling or a short theatre play for the kids to take part.

  2. Describe two or more own experiences (‘good’ or ‘bad’ or both) relating to job hunting. Note: it should be a useful advice for others.

  3. Prior to 550AD the prehistoric roots of Slavs and Poles in particular have been highly hypothetical. Show how, recent DNA mapping in Europe and tests elsewhere seem to alter established concepts.

  4. Prepare a guide/screen/poster describing at least 10 typical Polish foods and/or drinks stating their closest counterparts in other countries.

  5. In a compact way characterize historical differences between Polish political groups including roles of Pilsudski, Dmowski, Sikorski, Witos and Daszynski.

  6. Imagine that your busy partner/sibling travelling to Poland has only one hour to learn the language. Produce a 1 page/screenshot survival guide for them.

  7. Generate a short manual on how to identify Polish and Slavic names including the most common and those unique. Use own family names as example/s.

  8. Discuss the role and the meaning of “Holy Spirit” and the “Tree of Life” in the Christian religion and identify any similar concepts elsewhere.

  9. Prepare a brief investigative article/poster for a hypothetical journal revealing unknown aspects of a scientific/technical/cognitive case based on own observations.
    Focus on one of the following cases (PTO):
    - describe unusual/uncommon effects of herbs/foods/lifestyle on health/weight
    - using a few extreme interpretations of the same facts (eg political, industrial, financial etc) demonstrate how to read ‘between the lines’
    - compare uranium and thorium based power generation
    - explain why electric cars might not be able to replace combustion engines yet
    - discuss conclusions on the role of industry on climate vs modelling limitations

Sunday lunch is held on the 1st & 3rd Sunday of each month.

Bookings can be made by telephone, email or by visiting our office. The cost is $25 per head. Payment can be made in cash during office hours, on the day at the door, or, in advance via EFTPOS. NB Credit Cards are not accepted. Doors open at 12.15pm. We ask patrons to be seated by 12.30 pm when courses will commence being served. Drinks may be purchased at the bar.

Information about hall hire, condition and cost of hall hire are best discussed either personally, during a visit, or, by telephone. An initial telephone call is recommended
